Chicago: Fergus Printing Co., 1873. 16 pp. Fair condition with soiled and worn wraps. The right edge of the front wrap is crudely repaired. The inside front cover has the bookplate of Reuben Jay Flick (1871-1940) who lived in New York City and Lenox Massachusetts and was a member of the Grolier Club. This copy was probably the example sold at Swann Galleries in 1980. Housed in a slipcase with the bookplate of Florence & Edward Kaye noted collectors of detective fiction.

Allan Pinkerton (1818- 1894) was the founder of the Pinkerton Detective Agency. He describes the ease in which burglars were able to break into safes. 14 copies located. Item #718
