Trimmed with loss to the edges and likely removed from a scrapbook with glue residue on the back. The two poems are pro-states rights and foreshadow South Carolina's secession from the Union later in the year. A manuscript not indicates A.B. Longstreet lawyer, minister, a staunch supporter of slavery, and friend of Calhoun gave the prayer. Alexander Haskell was one of the speakers and went on to be a Confederate General and Rivers was a professor of Greek Literature at the college. Unrecorded. Item #675
