London: Tegg and Castleman, [1803]. Third edition. 36pp. Lacking portrait. Edward Depard was of Irish descent and served in the British Army in the Caribbean during the American Revolution. After the war, he was appointed Superintendent of the Bay of Honduras and married a local black woman believing in racial equality. He was called back to England for this and other charges. He was in and out of priosn and was increasingly seen as a radical. Eventually he and several others were arrested on thin charges of planning to take over the government. He was sentenced to death and over 20,000 people attended his execution. Item #3935
