c.June 1916. A beautifully hand compiled photo scrapbook depicting a family fishing and camping trip the the Metallak Island are of Maine. Located on Richardson Lake in North Oxford, Maine, the island is believed to have taken its name from a Native American member of the Androscoggin subset of the Abenaki tribe. Containing candid photos, handwritten descriptions and a magnificent inscription with poem. This scrapbook offers a visual slice of American leisure, shortly after the turn of the century. Two photos missing and some minor general wear to the covers. Item #3846
