Woman's Letter Boston 1872 Fashion Reference to "Dolly Varden" Dickens

Four page letter from Kate dated Boston, June 2nd, 1872, to Nell. Good condition. Kate writes: "I have got my black skirt down, waists, too, and it looks very nice. Also, my Dolly Varden. I think it's the prettiest one I've seen." The Dolly Varden was an outfit fashionable at this time. It was named for a character in Dicken's Barnaby Rudge. Good with the usual folds. Item #3095
